Who is she?
Leila Tajana is a mezzo-soprano from Gaffney, SC and is currently a Senior at Converse University. She has showcased her talent at Converse University and Furman University in both operatic roles and concert performances, including portraying Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, Dorothée in Cendrillon, and Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance. Leila has also presented scenes as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte, and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. A versatile performer, she has appeared as a featured soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria and in the choruses of Handel’s Messiah and Respighi’s Lauda per la Natività. Although classical music is Leila’s primary focus, she has enjoyed performing with Furman University’s Pauper Players as Billy Flynn in Chicago and as a member of the ensemble of Jekyll and Hyde. She currently studies under Emalie Savoy and previously studied under Lisa Barksdale, SLP at Furman University. After finishing her Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance at Converse, she plans to go on to pursue her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Boston University. Leila is looking forward to making her European debut with the Berlin Opera Academy in Gianni Schicchi and Le Nozze di Figaro this summer.
